It’s always beer o’clock here at genuine HQ, so the day after What Ales You at Harry’s, MGFD is getting back into the O Cinema groove with an evening of craft brews, food, and film on Tuesday, August 14 beginning in their Wynwood courtyard. $45 entry includes the whole shebang as follows, and tickets are live now HERE:
Beer & Snacks (6:30-8 p.m.): Join chef Michael Schwartz and crew for a menu of snacks prepared by Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink chef de cuisine Bradley Herron and taste free-flowing beers poured by Back Forty Beer Company, a craft brewery out of Gadsden, Alabama introducing its portfolio for the first time in the state of Florida. Sample flagship Naked Pig Pale Ale, Freckle Belly IPA, World Beer Cup award-winning Truck Stop Honey English Brown Ale and Kudzu Porter, all from your own handy dandy branded pint glass to take home. Brad’s cooked up the beer-soaked menu pictured here that I can’t wait to devour, especially his famous beer mustard (and sausage!)
Movie (8-10 p.m.): Enter Wynwood’s (er, Miami’s!) best art house cinema for a screening of Beer Wars! In America, size matters. The bigger you are, the more power you have, especially in the business world. Director Anat Baron takes you on a no holds barred exploration of the U.S. beer industry that ultimately reveals the truth behind the label of your favorite beer. Told from an insider’s perspective, the film goes behind the scenes of the daily battles and all out wars that dominate one of America’s favorite industries.
Beer Wars begins as the corporate behemoths are being challenged by small, independent brewers who are shunning the status quo and creating innovative new beers. The story is told through 2 of these entrepreneurs – Sam and Rhonda – battling the might and tactics of Corporate America. We witness their struggle to achieve their American Dream in an industry dominated by powerful corporations unwilling to cede an inch. This contemporary David and Goliath story is ultimately about keeping your integrity (and your family’s home) in the face of temptation. Beer Wars is a revealing and entertaining journey that provides unexpected and surprising turns and promises to change the world’s opinion on those infamous 99 bottles of beer on the wall.
