Harry’s Goes OMG! Again on April 23 with Dinner & Movie at O, Cinema

We just can’t get enough of our neighbors at Wynwood independent art house theater, O, Cinema.  Our OMG! Dinner & a Movie series returns with Harry’s Pizzeria chef de cuisine Manny Sulbaran again taking creative inspiration from the film – with a Jamaican twist – to the kitchen.  And this time, he’s even provided TGK with a recipe from the menu to recreate at home.

Few names or faces are as recognizable as that of Bob Marley.  His music – with its message of peace and harmony – is a soundtrack for the world.   MARLEY is the definitive documentary on the life and work of the icon, chock full of rare footage, never before seen performances and interviews with his family and friends.  Academy Award winning director Kevin MacDonald offers a thorough examination of this revolutionary singers life and takes his cameras deep inside the beautiful island of Jamaica.

4 Minute Egg

The incredible, edible egg, here a farm-fresh mixed basket of quail, chicken, pullet (young chicken,) goose and guinea fowl on display at last Sunday's #SoBeWFF farm-to-table brunch from Dale Volkert at Lake Meadow Naturals in Ocoee, FL.

Happy Sunday everyone.  It’s brunch time @MGFD_MIA right now, but if you’re at home like me, maybe sipping an espresso and catching up on some reading, or planning your escape — this time next week, I’ll be on vacation in Italy! — you may have a growl in your gut for some breakfast.  I remembered some photos from Michael’s last visit to Grand Cayman that I hadn’t posted and it’s exactly what I have a yen for right now.  I’m missing the ingredient in my refrigerator at the moment, but if you have some good eggs lying around, the best way to enjoy them Schwartz-style is soft boiled.

Go Behind-the-Scenes of Today’s Wall Street Journal Story Photo Shoot with Assistant to the Chef, Ellie Sara Groden

Daughters Ella and Lulu look on as mom and dad enjoy a moment together.

Open the Personal Journal of today’s Wall Street Journal and you will find a story that may get you in the mood to romance your special someone on Valentine’s Day!  That’s what Michael did for his wife Tamara, except it was the day after New Year’s on the request of style writer and author of the food/travel memoir Tiger in the Kitchen Cheryl Tan, whom he had the pleasure of meeting at their Miami Book Fair panel back in November.  Her Tricks of the Trade column runs in this lifestyle section every Thursday and today she focuses on some expert advice from someone who performs magic in the kitchen as his job, both in the restaurant and for his family at home.  I had all these photos from behind-the-scenes of the shoot for “A Special Gift, From the Chef” with photographer Brandon Kruse, so I thought it might be fun to find out from the prop stylist herself how it all came together that balmy winter evening.  Here is a quick Q&A with Ellie, below. DO try this one at home!
