[VIDEO] Royal Caribbean Webisode No. 1: “Farm Fresh Fare at 150 Central”

Please enjoy the first in a series of webisodes introducing 150 Central Park by Chef Michael Schwartz, debuting on Oasis of the Seas this Saturday, October 29. Look for cameos by MGFD Wine Director and Sommelier Eric Larkee, Chef de Cuisine of 150 Central Park on Allure of the Seas Molly Brandt, Chef de Cuisine of 150 Central Park on Oasis of the Seas James Seyba, and Vice President of Food & Beverage Frank Weber of Royal Caribbean International. At Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink in Miami, our customers can enjoy a taste of the locally-sourced dishes going aboard, embedded in Friday, October 28′s dinner menu shoreside. Hope to see you then, and bon voyage! We hit the ship for a western Caribbean sailing again on Saturday to support Jamie on opening week… Now the only question is, what’s planned for Halloween at sea? That may be its own webisode : )

When a pretty cool opportunity came across our desk to guest post on Royal Caribbean International President & CEO Adam Goldstein’s blog, we said why not? And let’s do something a little different!  So a couple of weeks ago when we came aboard Oasis of the Seas with Chef de Cuisine Jamie to start cooking and preview Michael’s new locally-sourced menus at its intimate Chef’s Table venue, I shot this video. Royal Caribbean liked it so much, it’s going on stateroom television beginning October 29 for the debut of 150 Central Park by Chef Michael Schwartz. Schwing! Check it out on the Company’s YouTube channel below, and please join us Friday, October 28 at MGFD in Miami when some of these dishes will show up on our dinner menu. In the future, Jamie will also be recording an Officer’s Log just for The Genuine Kitchen, sharing updates on ship life and how things are going at 150.

[VIDEO] Your Moment of Island Zen: Sunrise Edition

We first brought you a moment of island zen on January 14, 2010, our first morning on-island for Cayman Cookout, exactly six months and two days before Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink Grand Cayman first opened its doors.  Big sister saw that someone played that video yesterday, so back for your viewing enjoyment is a suped-up version, shot here from our apartment at The Terraces above the restaurant (actually directly above Ortanique!) in Camana Bay.  Requisite rooster, included!  Over the next few weeks we will be announcing our events for Cayman Culinary Month 2012, our third year of participation.  We have some great guest chefs coming into the restaurant to cook for both Cayman Cookout on Saturday, January 15 and a brand new event on Saturday, February 4 that we are co-founding with Slow Food Grand Cayman and the Cayman Islands Agricultural  Society. Great first meeting yesterday… so stay tuned!
