[Video] Home Brew Hits Total Wine This Week with a Splash of Cheek

What do you get when Florida’s brown rice and sugarcane gets in the hands of Back Forty Beer Co.’s craft brewers in Gadsden? Michael’s Genuine Home Brew, of course! But what does it really take to make our home-grown American Ale? To share a thing or two about the process, we gathered the ingredients and concocted a demo of our own, captured and edited with a splash of cheek and finesse by Giovanny Gutierrez of Chat Chow TV.  Watch and get inspired to Drink Like a Local with us at the following new events and appearances:

Home Brew By the Glass:  Beverage Director Ryan Goodspeed and I head to the By The Glass Show hosted by Ed Roberts on SoFla Radio to talk Home Brew and more.  We look forward to tasting four or so beers and beverages as curated by Mr. Goodspeed for the Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink bar.  Please join us right here on Thursday November 8 at 6:00 p.m. EST to listen or watch live. The replay will be posted shortly after the live broadcast. You can also subscribe for free as a podcast on iTunes.

Total Wine & More: If you live south of Palm Beach county, you will conveniently have nine more outlets to find Michael’s Genuine Home Brew as of this week when Total Wine & More begins to stock the product.  For store locations, visit the website here, and stay tuned for a fun classroom event we’re planning for December at the North Miami Beach store!

Harry’s Beer Brunch with Pubbelly: Please join us for a Sunday Brunch with Pubbelly chef Jose Mendin and partner Andreas Schreiner on November 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  When we heard about Brown Distributing Company’s Drink Like a Local program, we immediately jumped onboard by serving more local beers on tap and in the bottle at Harry’s Pizzeria. Now our menu gets to play, too, as Michael has been inviting local chefs from Whisk’s Brendan Connor to The Federal’s Cesar Zapata, all of whom support Florida’s craft breweries at their own restaurants, to come over to Harry’s and cook brunch in our kitchen. You’ll find their dishes integrated into our menu in a special section all their own, along with their favorite beers on tap and in the bottle. Some menu items will come with beer, too. This is not a ticketed event, just some good ol’ a-la-carte fun on a Sunday with good friends, good food, and good beer. And more eggs! Expect creative, beer-loving, meaty small plates and maybe a cocktail or two… After all, it’s brunch. Stay tuned for the menu!

Announcing Harry’s Beer Brunch Sundays: Drink & Eat Like a Local with Whisk Gourmet’s Chef Brendan Connor

Boom.

When we heard about Brown Distributing Company’s Drink Like a Local movement to support Florida breweries, we immediately jumped onboard by serving more local beers on tap and in the bottle at Harry’s Pizzeria. Now our menu gets to play, too.

Beginning September 16, we get super serious one Sunday a month about drinking and eating like a local.  And by super serious we of course mean our first brunch service!  Michael is inviting local chefs who also support Florida’s craft breweries at their own restaurants to come over to Harry’s and cook brunch in our kitchen.  You’ll find their dishes integrated into our menu in a special section all their own, along with their favorite beers on tap and in the bottle. Some menu items will come with beer, too.  This is not a ticketed event, just some good ole a-la-carte fun on a Sunday with good friends, good food, and good beer.  And more eggs!

First up, homegrown beer-loving chef Brendan Connor of Whisk Gourmet in South Miami.  He’ll be in house from 11-3:00 p.m. cooking up the following dishes with chef Manny Sulbaran and the team at Harry’s.  He’s still working on a sweet item and his list of beers, but we couldn’t wait to share these since our mouths have been watering all weekend since receiving them.  Boom.  #BeerBrunch.

Drink Like a Local…with a Local at Harry’s Pizzeria

Can you find the state of Florida in the logo?

Everyone knows that we love everything local. So, when we heard about Drink Like a Local, we immediately jumped onboard. And if you saddle up to the Harry’s Pizzeria counter this week and order a pint, then you’re onboard too, since local craft beers have currently taken over Harry’s four taps to toast this new movement to support local breweries and help them grow, the brainchild of Brown Distributing Company’s Ian Salzberg, Minister of Beer Communications and Certified Cicerone.  I caught up with our Brown rep and fellow local Josh Brent to get the low down on drinking like a local.  Read the interview below and visit Harry’s Pizzeria’s Tumbr for an exclusive video on our local offerings!
