Toro is located along the Duero river near the Portugese.  The Numanthia vineyards consist of ungrafted Tinto de Toro vines situated at 650 to 850 meters.  The clay soil base under sandy rocky soil retains moisture, helpful during long, dry periods.  The Termes is the first wine of the three wines.  Made from vines of a minimum age of 30 years the wine offers plum, chocolate, tobacco and minerality on the nose with dark berries on the palate.  Both grape and wood tannin (20 months in 20% new French) contribute to a rich mouth feel with enough acidity to keep the wine in balance.
