Michael and fellow Miami chefs Michelle Bernstein and Peter Vauthy were invited by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board to the Gulf with White House executive chef Criseta Comerford to explore food safety issues first-hand related to the BP oil spill. Before departing yesterday — on a 10:45 a.m. flight no less! — Michael and Michelle squeezed in a productive morning at two of New Orleans’ most famous food destinations: Cafe du Monde for chicory coffee & beignets and Central Grocery for Muffuletta.
