Exciting news for our community, Miami-Dade Public Schools, and students is flooding the media.

The White House has released a statement that Michelle Obama will travel to Miami on Monday to announce a major new food industry commitment in the fight against childhood obesity in America.  Local chefs participating in the Chefs Move to Schools program will join the First Lady at Riverside Elementary School in Little Havana for a cooking demo highlighting fresh fruits and vegetables that are increasingly cropping up in school gardens and salad bars across the city.   Michael is paired with Phillis Wheatley Elementary School in Overtown.

More specifics to come on Monday’s event…  For the latest updates please visit Obamafoodorama.com,  the White House food and nutrition initiatives blog of record thoroughly and diligently maintained by writer/publisher Eddie Gehman Kohan.  You may recall that Eddie covered Michael’s visit to New Orleans with fellow Miami chef Michelle Bernstein White House Executive Chef Criseta Comerford in September.  The Miami Herald also reported on the visit today.

As we like to say… Stay tuned!
