We always jump at the chance to do events with our neighborhood art cooperative, Locust Projects. They’re just so darn cool, and we like to feel like a little rubs off on us with each visit. Remember this encounter with Cuban artist Leyden Rodriguez Casanova‘s rolling hills of Pink Carpet, no doubt inspired by one of Bar Manager Ryan Goodspeed’s strawberry-basil caipirinhas and Michael’s conversation and recipe demonstration with winemaker and LP benefactor Dennis Scholl? I know Paula from Mango & Lime does; she caught it on video! Or what about the time our bartender Nicholas Arehart donated an original artwork to LP’s 2010 Smash & Grab Fall Fundraiser? The MGFD food cart rolled out for that event with its best sandwich yet, Bourbon-Pear Barbecue Brisket & Spicy Mustard Slaw.
Well, we have great news. You again have the opportunity to indulge in a little of LP’s artistic expression — and with our culinary artists, to boot!
Thursday, March 24, 6:30 p.m.: Our friend Dennis Scholl leads a conversation with executive pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith as she prepares tastes of two all time favorites — local basil panna cotta with strawberry consomme, fresh berries & candied kumquats, and anise almond biscotti. *drool* 155 NE 38th Street Suite 100, Miami Design District; 305.576.8570
Saturday, April 30, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.: Next month, the MGFD food cart rolls out for LP’s 2011 Spring Fling Fundraiser, this time a short ride over the I-195 causeway. Its flyer, which kicks major design derrière, has all the details. Menu is TBD but we will share on the website as soon as it’s set. See you on the Beach! 1111 Lincoln Road Parking Garage, 7th Floor, Miami Beach; 305.576.8570
