Hecho en Mexico

Our physical work aboard Oasis of the Seas finished for the week, Michael, Eric, and I disembarked deck two’s gangway yesterday with driver Roberto, weaving through what could be any jewelry store-lined Caribbean port, and headed into town.  There was some time to kill. Our flight wasn’t until 1:37 p.m. local time, and it was still shy of 9:00 a.m.  We decided on La Choza, a restaurant a reasonable distance from the cacophony, serving the occasional tourist but also an acceptable and homemade Yucatecan breakfast with an especially delicious ingredient… wifi!  A charge both for our devices and stomachs later, we were Skyping with Michael’s momma Judy in Philly and hopping back into Roberto’s bronze minivan to get a taste of her Cozumel. Turns out she and hubby Eddie blazed a trail here many years ago and call this Western Caribbean island home two months a year. A welcomed second breakfast followed, of shrimp and octopus tortas and tacos hecho en casa, served by their favorite waiter Lalo, at their favorite haunt, Taqueria El Camaron Dorado.
