Four New Bottles of Beer on the Counter at Harry’s Pizzeria

And our beloved old friend Miller High Life as number five, of course…

Today Harry’s is implementing four new semi-permanent bottled beer offerings as part of our ongoing focus on craft and local beers.  To join the rotating tap selection, The Genuine Hospitality Group Beverage Director Ryan Goodspeed  has chosen the following bottles, as described in last week’s staff memo complete with suggestions from our menu:

Ommegang Hennepin Farmhouse Ale, 22 oz, Cooperstown, NY $20
• This Belgian Style ale has a delicate bready sweetness. The beer quickly moves into complex blends of fruit, spice, yeast, and mild floral hops. Effervescent scrubbing bubbles cleanse the palate, and subtle alcohol warmth and a medium body make Hennepin a perfect thirst-quencher.
• ABV: 7.7% IBUs: 26
• Glass: Berliner Belgian Style
• Suggested Food Pairings: Spicy dishes, salads, olives, seafood, sharp cheeses. Pizza – Caponata, Margherita, Pesto, Shrimp.

Monk in the Trunk Organic Belgian Style Amber Ale, 12oz, Jupiter, FL $6
• Formerly contract brewed for Inlet Brewing Co. (ex Jupiter Brewing Co.) by Orlando Brewing Co., now by Thomas Creek in South Carolina. This unique copper-colored ale derives its fruity, slightly spicy aroma from authentic Belgian Abbey yeast. The subtle nutty and malty sweet flavors sing in harmony with the freshest organic hops available.
• ABV: 5.5% IBUs: 35
• Glass: Berliner Belgian Style
• Suggested Food Pairings: Spicy dishes, seafood, soft cheeses. Pizza – Mushroom, Shrimp, Braised fennel.

Southern Tier Unearthly Imperial IPA, 22oz, Lakewood, NY $18
• Imperial “of superior or unusual size or excellence”. This is the closest and most literal meaning of the modern use of Imperial as it relates to craft beer. Imperial beers are noted for being stronger versions of their traditional counterparts. Stronger meaning they are stronger in alcohol content, and stronger in bolder flavor profiles. Flavor notes are sweet malts, big piney hops, caramel, grassy. Medium bodied but dense and resinous. A big, bold double IPA.
• ABV: 9.5% IBUs: 125
• GLASS: Highball
• Suggested Food Pairings: Sharp artisan cheeses, bbq, smoked meats, curries, spicy foods. Pizza – Bacon, Bbq pork, Shortrib, Meatball.

Flying Dog Brewery Gonzo Imperial Porter, 12oz, Frederick, MD $8
• Gonzo is a big, bold porter brewed in honor of Hunter S. Thompson. Limited Distribution. Flavor notes are roasted chocolate, coffee and vanilla malt flavors balanced with a unique hop bite.
• ABV: 9.2% IBUs: 85
• Glass: Highball
• Suggested Food Pairings: Smoked meats, BBQ, hard cheese, chocolate and coffee desserts. Pizza – Bacon, Bbq pork, Shortrib, Meatball.
