A South Beach Homecoming: Restaurant Michael Schwartz at the Raleigh Hotel!

r.michael.schwartz-logoIt certainly seems fast and furious today (talk about a Monday… Welcome back from vacation to me!), but it is a long time coming for us at The Genuine Hospitality Group.

Here we are, hunkered down working in the Raleigh Hotel upper lobby this evening where this coming Monday, Michael’s new restaurant at the iconic South Beach property will open its doors to the public for the first time.  We are thrilled to unveil this new venture with our new partners at LA-based sbe and can’t wait to welcome you to experience Michael’s return to SoBe, the fresh, simple and pure way.

Assuming the former location of The Royal, Restaurant Michael Schwartz will occupy the Raleigh Hotel’s upper lobby and its iconic baroque pool deck when it opens Monday, April 22, offering diners a menu inspired by the rich history and singular charm of Miami Beach’s most iconic hotel property. Complete with Michael’s hallmark seasonal ingredient-inspired Snacks, Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large and Sides, as well as renowned pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith’s desserts, the restaurant will serve breakfast and lunch, a market fresh raw bar, and dinner daily, as well as poolside and bar service, boxed beach lunches, and a selection of items for in-room dining.

In creating the menu, Michael started where he always does – the ingredients, high quality and locally sourced when possible – and collaborating with Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink executive chef Bradley Herron, James Beard nominated executive pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith and Raleigh Hotel executive chef Danny Ganem. We are excited to offer some of our favorites from HQ in the Design District, recipes from Chef’s cookbook like Harvey Cedar’s Fish Stew, as well as new items inspired by the property and its chefs, including Grilled Octopus with crushed hazelnuts, green olives, kumquat, preserved lemon and parsley, as well as Steak Tartare with fresh herbs, crispy shallots, quail egg yolk and grilled bread.

Hours of Operation are lunch 12 noon – 4:00 p.m. seven days a week, boxed lunch at the beach 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., limited menu of snacks and room service 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Martini Bar 6:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m., and dinner 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Sunday – Thursday, and 6:00 p.m. – 12 midnight Friday – Saturday.

Restaurant Michael Schwartz opens on the heels of the sixth anniversary of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, chef Schwartz’s first restaurant in Miami’s Design District where his passion for where food comes from found its first home. The announcement also marks the beginning of many updates taking place at The Raleigh over the next 18 months. Beginning this fall, sbe will commence renovating The Raleigh’s guest rooms, suites and many of the common areas.  While the renovation will be comprehensive, the end product will be reminiscent of The Raleigh’s landmark art deco design.
