We Couldn’t Fuggetaboutit! Katz’s Pastrami on Rye Pizza Returns to Miami at Schwartz’s Pizzerias In September for Two Weeks Only

Look for the signs.

Homer, a pizza cook at Miami Design District, couldn’t believe his eyes!

Start spreading the news. Miami will have what the Big Apple is having… AGAIN!  Back by popular demand, the Katz’s Pastrami Pizza on Rye Crust that Michael conceived last summer will be available at all four South Florida pizzerias and new Atlanta location beginning Monday, September 17 until Sunday, September 30. Chef and Katz’s Delicatessen owner Jake Dell connected on a recent trip to NYC and hatched a plan to give the people what they want for the second year in a row.  We are positively verklempt — especially our pizza cooks who couldn’t get enough of this specialty inspired the icon’s famous sandwich the first go around.

“The original Lower East Side location is an obligatory stop on every visit,” Michael says. “Katz’s pastrami on rye sandwich is legendary — and one my all time favorites. I have to pinch myself that it’s going to be back in our pizza ovens!”

It’s always a pleasure to bring a taste of New York City’s iconic Katz’s
Delicatessen to the 6th Borough.  The Pastrami on Rye pizza will be available all day long during regular business hours, as well as delivery and takeout — until Michael has to call Jake for more meat!  Visit genuinepizza.com.com/locations to plan your visit and share the Jewish Deli love at #pastramionpie.  And remember you’ll never run out of pastrami at home by ordering your own at katzsdelicatessen.com – Katz’s ships nationwide.

Hands! You Might Need Both for 3 New Focaccia Sandwiches at Genuine Pizza

A tasty line up of new dishes are in the window at Genuine Pizza, including a first for Michael’s pizzeria menu… sandwiches!  Featuring our fresh-baked focaccia, three roasty, toasty bundles offer a favorite for everyone including Chicken Pesto, Meatball and Fresh & Roasted Veggie.  You’ll find them beginning today for $12 at both Aventura and Atlanta locations, in addition to two new pizzas — Italian Sausage and Four Cheese with Spinach, a Baby Spinach Salad, and punchy Roasted Red Pepper Spread, a snack served with focaccia soldiers.

Yeah, baby. New Spinach Salad with tomato, walnuts, roasted red peppers, egg, bacon, feta dressing.

“We’re always looking for ways to make the menu better,” says Bradley Herron, TGHG Culinary Director. “Everything’s on the table, all the time.  We felt like there was an opportunity to take a look at the things we love as much as our guests, and build on that in new ways.  We spend a lot of time and energy making really delicious focaccia in house and wanted to highlight it more, so developing a few sandwiches just made good sense.”

Sourcing all beef and pork from Niman Ranch is one such opportunity.  Spicy Pepperoni and Short Rib are among the most popular items on the Genuine Pizza menu period, let alone pizzas, so the team developed the Meatball Sandwich and Italian Sausage Pizza to showcase their responsible-raised, high quality products in a delicious new format.

Visit genuinepizza.com for the menu including new items, restaurant hours and locations, and to order online for delivery or takeout.

Plant Based? Plant Yourself at Genuine Pizza™ and Harry’s Pizzeria® with New Vegan Mozzarella Cheese

For Chef Schwartz quality is king and so are happy guests.  With 93% of people in American eating pizza at least once a month, and many with dietary restrictions, it is important our restaurant menus make guests feel at home — just like our dining rooms.  Now Genuine Pizza and Harry’s Pizzeria are more vegan-friendly than ever, thanks to the introduction this week of vegan mozzarella “cheese” that can be added to any pizza. The choice was popular brand Daiya, an industry leader in plant-based products and also serious about quality, to provide us with their premium Mozzarella Style Shreds.

Schwartz says, “Making our pizza restaurants more welcoming to more people is a win and something like vegan cheese is a big deal to a lot of folks.  We’re mindful of that. We’re also excited about how well the mozzarella-style melts.”

The margherita and “cheese” pizzas can be made vegan — adding caponata to either makes for a tasty combination. In addition to the vegan options on the pizza menu, we make a number of colorful salads with satisfying grains and beans, and a roasted eggplant entrée that can also be made vegan.

“Plant-based is no longer a fringe movement—it is now mainstream,” says Michael Lynch, Daiya’s vice president of marketing. “Today’s consumers have an appetite for foods that not only taste great, but are also better for themselves as well as the planet.”

We added a gluten free dough last year and the response has been great, not just accounting for a 4% slice of pizza sales, but especially to how good Wild Flour’s crust eats.  Whether you suffer from allergies, are dairy-intolerant, living vegan or simply choosing a healthier lifestyle you can still enjoy a better pizza. We leave the choice in your hands!

More Harry’s, more fun!  As reported by The Real Deal yesterday afternoon, we’re excited about our next signed lease in our neighborhood American pizzeria brand’s expansion — especially since it’s in the Schwartz family backyard on the Beach!  Located at 1680 Meridian Avenue, the space is ground level and will include outdoor seating, just like we like it!  At 2,500 square feet, Miami Beach will join our current three locations, in the Miami Design District, Coconut Grove and at Downtown Dadeland, as well as announced restaurants in Aventura, Sunrise, Atlanta and Cleveland.  Opening is slated in our timeline for fall 2018.  For news and updates, follow #HPMiamiBeach.  And check out our biggest Marra Forni rotator pizza oven yet at 7,100 pounds, which was delivered at the crack of dawn to our forthcoming Aventura Mall location this morning, here.

Harry’s Heads to Cleveland in 2018 | Fourth Location Marks First Outside Florida in Neighborhood American Pizzeria’s Expansion

Today Michael and Sunil Bhatt, CEO of Harry’s Holdings, join The Genuine Hospitality Group and RMS Investment Corp. in announcing the first Harry’s Pizzeria® location to open outside Florida.  The fourth restaurant is scheduled to open in 2018 in the heart of the Van Aken District of the historic Shaker Heights community less than nine miles east of the Cleveland city center.  It will join Miami’s Design District, Coconut Grove and the soon to open Downtown Dadeland (spring 2017) as the growing neighborhood American pizzeria brand charts a path to debut 20 stores over the next four years.  The news broke in Ohio this afternoon via The Cleveland Plain Dealer and locally on Eater’s Miami site.

That margherita life… You are what you eat!

“We were drawn to the Van Aken project from the very beginning because of its historic roots and the vision for a future built around community,” says Schwartz. “People shouldn’t have to travel far from home to find a great neighborhood restaurant and that’s what Harry’s is all about.”

Shaker’s Van Aken District is a development project focused on community, place making, and completing a historic city with a historic downtown. With over 100,000 square feet of retail space, 60,000 square feet of office space, and 102 apartments, this first phase of the Van Aken District will provide a walkable, workable and livable district and become the downtown that Shaker Heights currently is lacking. Encompassing roughly 11 acres, the project will create a commercial hub that benefits from built in connectivity to many surrounding neighborhoods and public transit via light rail on the Cleveland RTA Blue Line. The project led by RMS Investment Corp. and The City of Shaker Heights will host The New Starts Now, an “demolition celebration” this Saturday, November 12 to usher out the old and celebrate the current and future tenants of the Van Aken District, with phase 1 announcements including Harry’s Pizzeria.

“Harry’s is in expansion mode, and we have been very thorough in the selection process especially as we entertain opportunities out of state,” says Harry’s Holdings CEO Sunil Bhatt. “We believe in the future vision for the Van Aken District and are thrilled to be a part of it.”
